I’m working on the 2018 Year In Review for our December 19th and 26th editions. If you have any suggestions for highlights of 2018, please feel free to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call me at 910-458-8156.
Each year we publish a year in review that highlights stories over the last twelve to thirteen months. (Sometimes stories carry over). To prepare everyone for next week, it’s a run down of reports from throughout the year and will contain positive and not so positive highlights. It wouldn’t be accurate to only publish positive reports.
Topics will range from elections to utility rates, storms, new commercial developments, beach nourishment funding, dredging of the Carolina Beach Lake and many other headlines.
It's the holiday season and this time of the year brings a condensed holiday schedule for the Island Gazette. Not to mention many in local and state government are on holiday vacation so news cycles tend to slow down in December. Our next edition will hit the streets on December 19th.
Photos: I often get requests for prints of photos taken at local holiday events. I can provide photos at a higher resolution than you can normally download from our website or Facebook page.
If you see a photo of yourself and want to get prints made, please feel free to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
I'll do my best to answer your request and send a link to download a file that you can take to a local business for printing. That applies only to photos taken by the Island Gazette. Other photos require permission of the respective photographer.
The Island Gazette wants to thank all of our readers for making this another successful year. We look forward to getting started with our 42nd year in January.
We hope that everyone has a wonderful time visiting with family and friends over the Christmas holiday. Be safe and Merry Christmas to all!
