Dear Editor,
It is with much thought and a heavy heart, that I announce my retirement as President of the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce effective January 31st, 2021. Since 2005, with 5 1/2 years as a Director and 10 1/2 years as a Staff Member, it has been my sincere honor to have served our Membership through the years. I have made life-long relationships with our Chamber Members and am proud to know most Members by first name.
There have been so many great highlights over this time. In addition to our Advocacy services to our Member businesses, our goal was to bring new converts across the bridge to our Island Paradise through great programming and events.
• 100's of Top name movies at the Lake throughout the Summer months
• Weekly fireworks along with fantastic Live Music by CBDI
• Free Summer Concerts at Ft. Fisher All of the wonderful talent we were able to bring to the Island through the Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival (Gregg Allman, Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy, Dave Mason, Samantha Fish, Leon Russell) So many memorable Carolina Beach Music Festivals with Jim Quick & Coastline and everyone's perennial favorites - Band of Oz
• Chowder Cook-Off, Charity Auctions, Beach Bacon & Beer, Casino Night - too many to name Thank you for supporting our mission of Commerce, Events and Visitor Center services - it has truly been a collaborative experience with our Members, Volunteers and Locals.
I am not completely retiring - I will be returning to my first-love - Architecture. As some of you know, am an award-winning Registered Architect and have been since 1980. It was a pleasure being the Design Architect for our new Carolina Beach Boardwalk a few years back! In addition, I plan to remain active in the pleasure Island Business Community through various advocacy iniative(s), volunteering and working with selected Island Non-Profits for the betterment of our community.
In closing, I want to thank the support of our Members, our Volunteers, our Town Governments, our Visitors and our Locals - we are truly an amazing bunch! I want to thank the pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce for 16+ years of enjoyment, hard-work and more successes than I can count. This was not a job I had planned, but it turned into a passion that I am very grateful for the opportunity to have served. Having represented the Island's oldest Non-Profit Civic Organization for the past 16 years, I truly wish for a long and prosperous life for this beloved Organization in the future.
Sincerely,
Greg R. Reynolds
