The Ashley baseball team's season came to an end Wednesday, as they fell to the Cape Fear Colts in the opening round of the 4A state playoffs by a score of 5-0. As was the case for the majority of the season, the Screaming Eagles struggled to find any rhythm at the plate, mustering only 3 hits in their last game of the season. Price King, Drake Overton, and Donovan Francis all saw time on the mound for Ashley. Francis had 2 hits, including a backside triple, and Jordan Fentress had the other hit for the Eagles. The pitching staff only allowed 6 hits, all singles. Unfortunately the hits for the Colts were timely, producing runs. We'd like to wish the 2015 senior class lots of luck as they all embark on a new journey in life. A big thanks goes out to Jordan Fentress, Kyle Stewart, Nick Golonka, Donovan Francis, Drake Overton, and Alex Highsmith. You'll always be a Screaming Eagle baseball player!! EAGLE FOR LIFE!!
