NEW HANOVER CTY -  The public is invited to see the initial design concept for the new skate park that is being added to Ogden Park. This public meeting will enable citizens to give feedback on the design.
The meeting will be held  April 30, 2015 at 6:30 pm at the New Hanover County Executive Development Center. The lead designer from Grindline Skateparks based out of Seattle, Washington will be available via Skype that evening. Grindline has designed some of the most exciting, innovative, and popular skate parks in the U.S. Why a Skate Park? According to New Hanover County officials, "Skateboarding has been a part of New Hanover County’s culture since its origins in the 1950’s. Nationwide, there are more than 12 million active skateboarders and here in our County, the numbers of skateboarders exceeds the number of safe, legal places for them to skate. A new skate park will immediately fill a need for hundreds of avid skaters, especially skaters from the northern parts of the County including Wrightsville Beach. The closest skate park to this location is over 9 miles away in downtown Wilmington. The other skate park in the area is located even further away in Carolina Beach."
