CAROLINA BEACH  -  Tuesday November 5th, is Election Day for municipal offices in New Hanover County.
The filing period began Friday, July 5, 2019 at 12:00PM and ended on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 12:00 PM.
For Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach, the Offices of Mayor and two Council seats will be up for election. For the City of Wilmington, the Office of Mayor and three Council seats will be up for election.
By the deadline on Friday July 19th, the following people had filed to seek the office of Mayor and Council seats.

Carolina Beach:
• Council member LeAnn Pierce, Town of Carolina Beach Mayor Candidate
• Dorrene Stanley, Town of Carolina Beach Mayor Candidate.
• Incumbent Steve Shuttleworth, Town of Carolina Beach Council Member Candidate.
• Lynn Barbee, Town of Carolina Beach Council Member Candidate
• Debi DeNatale, Town of Carolina Beach Council Member Candidate
• Jay Healey, Town of Carolina Beach Council Member Candidate
• T. D. Scaringi, Town of Carolina Beach Mayor Candidate
• Tom Elicson, Town of Carolina Beach Mayor Candidate

Kure Beach:
• Incumbent Mayor, Craig Bloszinsky, Town of Kure Beach Mayor Candidate

City of Wilmington:

Voter ID
Beginning in 2020, voters will be required to show a photo I.D. before they vote. That includes in person and voter by mail with some exceptions. According to the Board of Elections, "In November 2018, North Carolina voters approved an amendment to the N.C. Constitution to require voters to present photo ID at the polls. Session Law 2018-144 requires each county board of elections to hold at least two voter ID seminars before September 1, 2019. Attendees also will receive information about voting options, including absentee-by-mail, One-Stop early voting and Election Day voting."

One-stop early voting will take place from October 16, 2019 - November 1, 2019.
Please note that the specific dates/times/locations are to be determined in the summer of 2019.
The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce announced last week that in association with the Courtyard Marriott - they will be holding a non-partisan political forum on Monday September 30th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at 100 Charlotte Avenue with the candidates for Carolina Beach municipal office. Several local media will serve as the moderators of the event. Questions should be written to be asked equally and fairly for all candidates. Personal attacks and individual questions will not be considered.
The Chamber will also a forum for Kure Beach candidates on Thursday October 3rd, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm in the Kure Beach Council Chambers at 117 Settlers Lane in Kure Beach.
