CAROLINA BEACH - The Island Gazette will continue to serve the community amid the pandemic that is COVID-19. In the interest of promoting social distancing, we are limiting access to our office. We are not closed, but will exercise caution.

We will remain open, but will be closing the front office. We can still be reached by phone 910-458-8156 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. We have decided to put an Honor Newspaper Rack in front of our office located at 1003 Bennett Lane, Suite F, Carolina Beach, NC. Grab what you need for Newspapers as some may be picking up for others that can't get out. Our delivery drivers will use extra precautions while delivering your newspaper and can just drop at your business if needed. Thank you for your patience.

All local events have been canceled and there is no certain timeline for when life will return to normal. In the meantime, our B-Section that is dedicated to covering events and the community including schools, local sports, and other human interest stories will get creative by offering up a variety of content to help entertain and educate our readers as they find themselves spending a lot of time at home with family staying safe and helping others from a safe distance.

Shawn and Jasmine Mckee   have worked hard this week to make adjustments to the B and C Sections of the Gazette.

Jasmine explained on Tuesday, "No local events means nothing to cover... check out tomorrow’s Gazette for some flashbacks of the Budweiser Beach Music Festival. Drop your favorite Beach Music Festival memories in the comments. [On our Facebook Page] Each week we will be digging in the archives and sharing some local history. Through the pandemic we will have a “FREE” newspaper rack outside Gazette building at 1003 Bennet Lane Suite F in Carolina Beach."

Shawn Mckee explained, "The Island Gazette like other small local businesses are feeling the crunch from the Covid-19 Pandemic. We are still planning on printing and bringing you the local coverage our family newspaper has brought since being in business since 1978. We have weathered the storm and printed through all hurricanes and snow storms since opening. Since events have been canceled from time to time we will be bringing you some archive pictures from the last 42 years. In Our Business Section we will still be doing stories on our local companies, that are able to conduct business. If you can advertise please call Shawn McKee at 910-233-3234. If you want the post office to bring you a newspaper call 910-458-8156. Subscriptions start at $32 for in County Delivery and $42 for out of County Delivery."

During this pandemic, we will rely upon you to report your stories - from a distance. We will strive to provide you with the most accurate information available to us using our knowledge of fact-checking and condensing important information into reports that are to the point and easily understood.
While we are a weekly publication, we have the ability to publish reports and articles online on a daily basis. That includes our website at www.islandgazette.net and on our Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/TheIslandGazette
