KURE BEACH - The Kure Beach Town Council will hold a meeting on Friday April 3rd, at 9:AM. The meeting will likely be via teleconference for the public to call a number that will posted on the Town's website at www.townofkurebeach.org

That's the new procedure during the COVID-19 pandemic to promote social distancing.

The meeting will include a presentation on the upcoming 2020/2021 fiscal year budget as the Town Council plans for adopting a budget by July 1st.

On the agenda, also available on the Town's website, is a presentation regarding the potential for an increase in property tax rates as well water, sewer and stormwater rates.

Finance Director Arlen Copenhaver explained The current tax rate of 34 cents per $100 of property value could by, "Current estimate of property tax increase, assuming no reductions to the expense budget and not implementing any other fee or rate increases: Increase of 2.75 cents (8.1%) generating approximately $251,000 of annual revenue."

Other increases to be considered are an potential %14.3 percent increase for garbage collection fees. Water and sewer fund increases of 10 to 20% and stormwater fee increases of 10 to 55%. (From the current $8.71 to $13.50).
