FORT FISHER - Earlier this month North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced the State is moving to Phase 2.5 during the COVID-19 pandemic to reopen museums, aquariums, and historic sites.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher will reopen on September 14th with some restrictions.

On the Aquarium's website, a notice reads, "The NC Aquariums will open to the public Monday, Sept. 14! We have missed all of you and can't wait to have you back to visit. To help protect our guests and staff, capacity will be reduced and admission sold online only, with ticketing for specific hours of the day. We are working hard to get ready for your visit, and will have more information to share soon so stand by! Welcome Back".

During the pandemic, the Aquarium has continued operations while closed to the public but they have continued to welcome new creatures to into their home and have held events such as virtual story times every Wednesday at 10 a.m. to hear tales of life under the sea where people can meet one of the characters and ask any undersea questions they may have.
