The Island of Lights Fashion Show will be appearing once again on Pleasure Island on Saturday, March 31 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Carolina Beach American Legion Post No. 129.
Tickets for the event are $22. There are only 100 seats available and are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Thyme Savor Catering will cater lunch and the popular silent auction will spotlight goods and services available in the area. There will also be a raffle where attendees could win delightful prizes. The organizers of the fashion show are requesting area businesses and artists contact the Island of Lights committee if they wish to donate items and services for the silent auction. All donations are tax deductible.
The Island of Lights Fashion Show showcases island styles and trendy designer fashions from three locally owned and operated clothing stores. Island Colors, touché and Unique Boutique all carry special clothing lines that are unique and exclusive for the island. There are no cookie-cutter styles at any of these boutiques. The fashion show will feature new 2012 summer lines in women’s clothing, accessories and bathing suits. Tickets for the fashion show will be available at the featured businesses.
The highly anticipated annual event is the main fundraiser for Island of Lights celebrations that start the day after Thanksgiving and continue on through the holidays. Festivities kick off with the Lighting at the Lake ceremony in Carolina Beach, marches through town in December with the Island of Lights Christmas Parade, sparkles the harbor with the Island of Lights Flotilla, displays beautifully decorated homes with the Tour of Homes and finally lights up the New Year with a New Year’s Eve Celebration complete with fireworks.
The events that Island of Lights host have become local favorites, as well as a good economic draw to the island. The events bring in visitors from all over the region and summer residents even return to spend their holidays here. For the winter season of Island of Lights, Pleasure Island awakens from being sleepy little neighborhoods to a bustling hub of preparation and show.
