New Hanover County High School Students Selected to Attend the Governor’s School of North Carolina

New Hanover County Schools is proud to announce that eight high school students have been selected to attend the Governor's School of North Carolina. The Governor's School is the oldest statewide summer residential program for academically or intellectually gifted high school students in the nation, integrating academic disciplines, the arts and unique courses. The five-week program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Governor's School West at Salem College in Winston-Salem and Governor's School East at Meredith College in Raleigh. The curriculum focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in each discipline, and does not involve credit, tests, or grades.
The following students will participate in this prestigious program from June 17 through July 21, 2012:  CHORAL Tabitha Knott – Ashley High School, ENGLISH Kammy Liu – Hoggard High School, MATHEMATICS Frank Minutillo – Hoggard High School and Megan Chang – Isaac Bear Early College High School, NATURAL SCIENCE Jennifer Jensen – Hoggard High School,Ryan Visser – Hoggard High School, and Stewart Willard – Ashley High School, SOCIAL SCIENCE Kyla DeHart – Hoggard High School.
