Stay Away From Hooking To Cape Fear Public Utility Authority

Editor,Mayor,Council, Others,
Town of Carolina Beach Councils interest in seeking new water sources for Carolina Beach and as a result their interest in an upcoming meeting with CAPE FEAR UTILITIES AUTHORITY has blinded their thinking or they have not been following the publicity that this Mismanaged Authority has had from its beginning.
I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ANYONE IN OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT WOULD EVEN THINK ABOUT MEETING WITH THESE FOLKS AT THIS TIME OR ANYTIME FOR THAT MATTER SEEKING A SOLUTION TO OUR UPCOMING WATER PROBLEMS. DOING SO IS STUPIDITY AT ITS HIGHEST LEVEL AND MUST STOP BEFORE OUR UNTHINKING COUNCIL GETS THIS TOWN INTO THE SAME MESS OTHER USERS OF THIS SYSTEM ARE ENCOUNTERING AS WE SPEAK.
Granted Carolina Beach needs new water sources but seeking to joining this Mismanaged Authority with its numerous problems to furnish for Water for Carolina Beach will put us living the same nightmares that present users of this system are and have encountered from the git go since this authority was created.
One only needs to ask anyone that is connected to this system and purchases water from this crowd if they are happy and you will see what a living nightmare that this crowds Mismanagement has created from its beginning.
Rates are now and have been out of site, there have been numerous rate increases resulting in outlandish water bills to the point that a sizeable majority of users have voiced complaints and have had trouble paying them. New announced rate increases to make up for deficits are in the works as I write this e-mail.
No Council or person using their right mind would explore or propose hooking our water system to supply Carolina Beaches water needs to Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority as a first or last resort. There are other and better water sources including the Town putting down new wells on the island. This Council needs to research this authority and steer Carolina Beach away from it and not toward it before they even explore hooking us to this nightmare of a water source.
This Council has done some stupid things and if our Town does get hooked up to this authorities system this will top all other stupid things they have done by far.
It is a shame we have elected officials that do not do their homework before they act on vital issues that can get Carolina Beach and its residents into a mess. Another prime example is this Councils implimentation of our IDIOC ROAD DIET on our Towns main thoroughfare into and out of Town whose solution has been stalled as we speak.
Hopefully our upcoming election in November will purge this Council of all that may chose to seek reelection and we can elect folks that will use their heads while representing us in a better manner than we have been represented in this present administration. Only time will tell.
D.A. Lewis,
Carolina Beach, NC
