On Tuesday, April 17, 2007, Kure Beach Mayor Tim Fuller led the community in commemorating the Towns 60th Anniversary by unveiling a special plaque and thanking all of the many individuals, groups, and businesses who helped make the month long celebration possible. “
“This is a very important month and day in the history of Kure Beach. We are looking forward to great things in Kure Beach. We are all here tonight because Kure Beach is a special place and we are committed to keeping Kure Beach a special place to live,” said Mayor Fuller in his opening remarks. “We are here to honor the people who have helped. We celebrate a sense of community we all share and it would not have been possible without the hard work of the 60th Anniversary Committee. We thank all who helped, all who contributed.”
The 60th Anniversary Committee was recognized and honored for all of their dedicated hard work. The 60th Anniversary Committee led by Committee Head Paula Withrow coordinated and planned the many events that have been dedicated to honoring the town during the Month of April starting with the parade and festival, the plaque dedication, the Kure Beach run, the Family Day at the Beach, Hollywood at the Beach, the upcoming Talent Show, the Fishing Tournament, and the celebratory banners that will be used for years to come to decorate the town for special events.
The commemorative plaque that will be housed at the Kure Beach Town Hall contains the names of all of the contributors who helped make the 60th Anniversary Celebration a success. There were several levels of sponsorship available.
