New Hanover County Schools to Open Kindergarten Registration

New Hanover County Schools will open kindergarten registration and accept enrollment forms February 4-22, 2013.  The three-week enrollment period will afford parents the opportunity to have their child become a part of New Hanover County Schools. NHCS provides children with an excellent education and a positive, nurturing environment to grow and explore. There are 25 elementary schools within the district including three magnet schools; Rachel Freeman School of Engineering, Gregory School of Math, Science and Technology, and Snipes Academy of Arts and Design.  There are also two year-round elementary schools, Codington and Eaton, and one alternative school, Lake Forest Academy. Children must be five years old on or before August 31, 2013, to enroll in kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year.
To enroll, a parent or guardian must bring the following to the elementary school when registering: ; child’s original birth certificate (not a copy); social security card (optional); certificate of immunization; proof of residence such as a copy of lease, deed, property tax statement or homeowners/rental insurance policy.
If you have any questions about enrollment for the magnet or year-round schools, please contact Student Support Services at 910-251-2929 or (910) 254-4292. For more information, call the elementary school your child will attend, or Student Support Services at (910) 251-2929 or (910) 254-4292.  A directory of NHCS' elementary schools can be found on www.nhcs.net.
