Students Make ”Locks of Love” Donation

7 year old Carolina Beach First Grader, Bella made a hefty donation to Locks of Love. Inspired by her Aunt Leigh Anne who is a cancer survivor and her cousin Morgan Ramsey of Rocky Point who also donated her hair, Bella hopes that her donation will bring joy to a sick child. Bella is also looking forward to playing on the beach with her cool new haircut! She loves playing on the beach and at Kure Beach Ocean Front Park. She likes to read, ride her scooter, and will learn how to surf this summer! She is also learning to play the violin. Special thanks to Karen at Plaza Hair Design in Carolina Beach who donated her time on May 28 to contribute to this worthy cause. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. For more information on Locks of Love please visit
