Kure Beach will hold its grand opening celebration for the new Ocean Front Park on Friday, April 26, followed by the annual street festival on Saturday, April 27. Both events are free and open to the public.
The Grand Opening kicks off at 11:30 am and lasts until 10:00 pm. Festivities begin with an official flag raising and ribbon cutting, as well as a performance by the Carolina Beach Elementary School 3rd Grade Class. Educational talks, informational tables, recreation demonstrations, and entertainment for the young ones round out the afternoon. Live music begins at 3:00 pm with South of K Bluegrass, followed by The Imitations and Wilmington Big Band. Bring a beach chair or blanket and enjoy the music from the lawn or refine your shag and swing dance skills will free dance lessons from Babs McDance! Keep the fun going by attending the annual Kure Beach Street Festival on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 am. Enjoy festival food, arts and crafts and live entertainment from South of K and The Mako Band; and dance to the music of Jolly Mon da DJ. Your kids will enjoy Gracie the Clown, balloon animals, a bounce castle and an 18’ slide! Stay until 9:00 pm for the grand finale fireworks display over the ocean.
