Growing up with an uncle who owned a bar, Sean Boulay always wanted to be a bar owner, he wanted to be like Uncle Tommy. Well, he got the chance to walk in his uncle’s footsteps this past March; he bought the smallest beach bar in the state, The Last Resort. He said that he has been coming down the past couple of years and really liked the area. When the opportunity to buy a bar was available he took it.
Boulay wants to keep The Last Resort as it has always been. Tony Allegrino, bar manager, helps in maintaining the same relax atmosphere that The Last Resort is known for. The same specialty drinks are still available like the Rum Bucket and “Deer in a Beer” and keeping the motto “Don’t bring a friend, we don’t have room.” The party deck is still there for outdoor seating.
He has live music Tuesday, Thursday through Saturday and Sunday afternoon. He is working on getting a disc jockey for Monday and Wednesday. His music is from 8 – 11 p.m. except for Sunday then it is from 3 - 6 p.m. The musicians coming in will play upbeat music geared more to the island. Sean Boulay has partnered with Hang 10 Grill to have food delivered.
He also supports Oasis NC (Outstanding Autism Support and Intervention Services in North Carolina) there is a function per month that the money gets donated to this organization. The Last Resort is at 600 N.
