The 9th annual Steve Haydu St. Patrick's LoTide Run, to benefit local recipients who are fighting cancer and have no insurance, will be held this coming Saturday in downtown Carolina Beach.
This weekend the Steve Haydu St. Patrick’s Lo Tide Run will once again bring thousand to Carolina Beach all for one great cause. 100% of all proceeds from registration fees, sponsors and individual donors are distributed to recipients selected by an all volunteer board of directors to assist local cancer victims in financial need. The donations are distributed in memory of Steve Haydu of Carolina Beach, who died from cancer at a young age. The recipients are New Hanover County residents diagnosed with cancer and are without medical insurance or in financial need.
All donations are tax deductible. More than $53,000 was distributed directly to sixteen recipients from the proceeds of last year’s event. The impact in their lives of getting much needed financial help from their community is worth running for. This weekend’s ninth annual race would not be possible without all of the amazing support of sponsors, participants and the volunteers. Race organizers ask that the community be involved, please see maps on page 20B, if the race goes by your home they encourage you to come out and support runners who have gathered for this wonderful cause. If you want to join in on the fun, registration is still at www.LoTideRun.org. There you can register for the race and purchase other goodies including Lo Tide Run After Party tickets, koozies, wristbands and a wonderful cookbook complied by your friends and neighbors and designed by Carolina Beach’s Artful Living Group. Early packet pick-up will be at Omega Sports located on Oleander Drive in Wilmington this Friday, March 15th from 11:00am until 7:00pm.
