Police Investigating Saturday Night Fight; One In Hospital After Brain Surgery

CAROLINA BEACH - Carolina Beach Police Detective Chris Latham is investigating a large fight that broke out after a moon light cruise on one of the Winner Party Boats in Carolina Beach on Saturday night April 27th.
Several people had to be taken to the hospital and one man required emergency brain surgery.
In a release to the media from the Carolina Beach Police Department is stated, "There was an assault near the Marina on 04.27.2013 by two large groups of individuals (about 30 people in each group).  Both groups had gone out on the Winner party cruise without any issues, however alcohol was involved.  Several people in the group from the Clinton, NC area assaulted at least 3 individuals by throwing bricks that them. The group that are victims are locals and reside in Wilmington."
According to police, there were three people taken to the hospital. One of those individuals had emergency brain surgery due to his injuries and was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after being struck in the head by a brick.
Detective Latham is not releasing the names of the victims, witnesses or suspects due to the ongoing investigation.  He is extremely confident that warrants will be taken out on the suspects this week, due to the cooperation of the victims and witnesses.
The police report is not being released at this time due to the names of all parties involved being listed.
Latham said the fight occurred in a parking lot in the area behind Hardees and McDonalds.
More details of the incident will follow once the investigation is released.
