Obituary: Donald V. Martire

Donald V. Martire, 85, of Goose Bay Rd., Redwood, NY, formerly of Carolina Beach Village, NC, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 with his wife by his side.
Donald was born September 23, 1927 in Jacksonville, Fl, the son of Anthony P. and Harriette Brosge’ Martire. He graduated from Rhodes Preparatory School in New York City and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance from New York University.
He married Elaine M. Wik on July 22, 1950 in Hawthorne, NY.
Mr. Martire was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired Vice President with Pershing & Co., Division of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, New York, NY, and he previously retired from the US Trust Company of New York, NY, as Vice President after 35 years of service. Donald also owned and operated Aardvark Realty, along with his wife, Elaine, in Carolina Beach, NC, where he was also a former President of the Carolina-Kure Beach Board of Realtors. He was a past Commodore of the Cortlandt Yacht Club, Montrose, NY, and was also the past President of the Hendrick Hudson Lions Club, Montrose, NY.
Donald was a devout Catholic and was active in his faith. He enjoyed recreational boating, “RV-ing”, and digging for clams.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, four daughters, Linda and her husband, Edward Bollenbach, of Winsted, CT; Cheryl and her husband, Edward Carvill, of Goose Bay, (with whom he resided) ; Suzanne and her husband, Almon Hall of Providence, RI; Michele Martire of Wilmington, NC ; four grandchildren, Heather Carvill Henry, Amber Carvill Johnson, Sara and Stephen Hall; and one great-grandchild, Aurelia Johnson.
Funeral arrangements will be private and at the convenience of the family. Local arrangements are with Costello Funeral Service, Alexandria Bay, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wolf Foundation-Warrior Salute, 860 Hard Road, Webster, NY 14580.
