Garnett Lee Rice, Jr., 68, passed away Saturday November 9, 2013, in Thomasville, NC where he had recently moved.
Garnett was a resident at the beach for 25 years and was property owner/manager of Gull Cottages and Deerfield Village Apartments.
He was a licensed charter boat captain of Sea Trek and enjoyed fishing for many years. He was co-founder of Cape Fear Generators and his last few working years he enjoyed working with a good friend at the arcade in Kure Beach.
He attended Seaside Chapel and was a member of the American Legion and actively involved in the community.
Preceded in death by his father Garnett Lee Rice, Sr. and mother Virginia Rice. He is survived by daughter Lisa Rice of High Point, NC, granddaughter Jordan Rice, sister Shelia Smith, brother Greg Rice and wife Sandi from Thomasville, NC, former wife and friend Cheryl Rice, many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Sissy. A celebration of life will be held Saturday November 23rd at Jack Mackerel’s in Kure Beach from 3PM to 6PM.
