Hook, Line and Sinker: Local Fishing Report and Photos for September 4, 2013

Are you into the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui? (What?)  What’s that got to do with Fishing?  Perhaps more than you think.  Feng, Shui, in Chinese, means Wind, Water.  If you’re into Fishing, you know you have control over the bait you choose, how you present the bait, the hooks and line you choose, where you decide to go, when you go, and an endless list of equipment you can buy and use. What you can never control is the Wind and Water.  Almost every morning I dial 910-762-3240 for the latest forecast of  future wind conditions.  Then I look at a tide chart to see what the water will be doing on my planned fishing trip. Wind and Water. Ever changing, hard to predict, and impossible to control.  Feng Shui.  Work with it to improve your fishing.
Fishing has been excellent this week.  Still lots of small flounder on the piers and in the surf, and larger fish in the river, bays, and ICW.  Red Drum are cruising the banks just about everywhere.
Practice “Safety First”.  Use your sunscreen.  Take a kid fishing!

(Pictured Above): Masha came here from Russia and caught her first Flounder on August 31st. What a beauty!

(Pictured Above): Eric, from Washington DC, caught a bunch of fish near the mouth of the Cape Fear, including this nice Jack Cravelle.
