Lady Eagles Varsity Soccer Team had 3 Games in a Week

• 4/8 – Ashley 2 Laney 2 in Double Overtime – 100 minutes of soccer ended in a 2-2 draw on Monday night at Laney.  The Lady Eagles soccer team came ready to play.  The Eagles were first on the board with a goal from junior, co-captain, Charlotte Pearsall off of a penalty kick in the opening minutes of the game.  The Eagles spread their lead with a second goal by sophomore, Jana Autonell, assisted by Pearsall.  The score stood 2-0, Eagles at the close of the first half.  The Buccaneers responded early in the second half, bringing the score 2-1.  Midway through the half, another Buccaneer goal evened the score at two a piece.
At the close of regulation play, the score remained tied 2-2 sending the game to overtime.  After 20 minutes of overtime play, the score remained tied at 2-2.  The team played with intensity and composure, responding as a unit in the midst of several injuries.  This tie brings the Lady Eagles overall record to 4-1-3, with a record 0f 1-0-1 in conference play.  The Lady Eagles will host New Hanover Tuesday night.
• 4/9 – Ashley 0 New Hanover 3 - The Lady Eagles soccer team hosted the Wildcats of New Hanover Tuesday night.  The Wildcats striker was able to find the back of the net twice in the first half giving New Hanover a 2-0 lead at half.  Another Wildcat goal in the first few minutes of the second half brought the score to 3-0.  A few defensive adjustments and solid play out of freshman defenders Sydney Parker and Taylor Butts kept the Wildcats at bay for the remainder of the game.  A healthy team with fresh legs will be ready to respond when the team travels to New Hanover later in the season.  The loss brings the team’s overall record to 4-2-3, with a record of 1-1-1 in conference play.
• Ashley 0 New Bern 4 – The Lady Eagles Soccer team suffered their 2nd loss of the season after a long bus trip to New Bern. The game was the 3rd game for the Eagles in just 4 days. The Loss dropped them to 1-3-1 on the Mid-Eastern Conference.
