New Physician Joins General Surgery Specialists

WILMINGTON, NC - New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s General Surgery Specialists is pleased to announce that Michelle M. Fillion, MD, MS, has joined the practice. Dr. Fillion is a fellowship trained surgical oncologist who is also serving as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in NHRMC's Surgery Residency Program.
She is board certified in both complex general surgical oncology and general surgery.  Her specialization is in all aspects of surgical oncology, including liver resections and microwave ablation for primary and metastatic disease, Whipple procedure, gastrectomy, colorectal surgery, mastectomy and lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, regional lymph node dissection (neck, axillary, inguinal and pelvic), thyroidectomy, and minimally invasive surgery.
 Dr. Fillion graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University and attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, and received her Master’s of Medical Science from The Ohio State University in Columbus. She also completed a fellowship in complex surgical oncology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.  
 Dr. Fillion is a native of Ohio and a first-time resident of North Carolina.
