WILMINGTON, N.C. (September 9, 2014) – On Thursday, September 4, 2014, the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors (WRAR) announced its election results at its Annual Meeting. With 150+ members in attendance at the organization’s ballroom located on Sir Tyler Drive, Realtor Don Harris with Intracoastal Realty was declared next year’s Vice President.
As a result, Harris will also serve as Multiple Listing Service (MLS) President in 2016 and WRAR President in 2017. The three year leadership commitment gives Harris an incredible opportunity to apply his experience and knowledge in addressing several concerns for local homeowners and the real estate industry.
“I am truly excited and humbled to be a part of the leadership for WRAR. We will be experiencing tremendous growth and significant change over the next two to three years as we adapt to a changing real estate market. Our Association is poised to provide excellent tools for our members so that they can be the most effective and professional agents for their clients,” states Harris.
Harris holds his Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI) and Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designations, as well as his e-PRO certification. Each of these distinctions demonstrates his unwavering dedication to professionalism and serving his clients. Harris has also chaired and served on numerous committees at both the state and local association levels, while also volunteering in many community-based capacities in the Wilmington area. Some of these include the New Hanover County Comprehensive Plan Policy Recommendation Committee, the New Hanover County Board of Equalization and Review, the New Hanover County Ports, Waterway, and Beach Commission, the City of Wilmington Golf Course Advisory Board, and an Assistant Scout leader.
Current WRAR President Jody Wainio affirmed Harris as an excellent choice to lead WRAR into the future saying, “Don brings experience and passion to his new position with WRAR. He is very dedicated to his local and state associations, serving on many committees and participating in so many events. I look forward to working with Don and the newly elected Directors in the coming year and wish him all the best success in his new role as Vice President.” Also joining the Board of Directors in 2015 are Jeff Lesley with Century 21 Sweyer and Associates, Loris Speight with Masonboro Realty, and Shari Cutting with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. Lesley and Speight will both serve a three-year term lasting until 2017 and Cutting will serve a one-year term ending in 2015.
