Heart of Hope 5k Raises Funds and Awareness for Hungry Families

The 2nd Annual Run For Hunger - Heart of Hope 5k Run/Walk for Hunger held this past Saturday brought runners and walkers to Carolina Beach all to support the cause that leaves no child hungry. Runners, walkers and their families enjoyed a special appearance by “Hope” the Heart, face painting and a live broadcast from Life 90.5 FM! This year’s first place winner was Wilmington’s Josh Drew with a time of 16:12, in Second Pace was Carolina Beach’s Stephen Dees with a time of 20:22, followed closely by the Third Place over all winner and First Place Female from Wilmington Sarah Alexander with a time of 20:59.     
All proceeds raised from this event will help to feed local children and families, going directly to the following organizations: The Help Center, Carolina Beach Elementary School and “Heart of Hope.” For more information and a complete list of results, visit www.heartofhoperun.com.
