Kure Beach Offers Bus Trip to Bookgreen Gardens April 2nd

Kure Beach Parks & Recreation is offering a bus trip on Thursday, April 2nd to visit Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, SC. Reservations are now being taken at Kure Beach Town Hall. Plans are that the chartered bus will leave Kure Beach Town Hall at 8:00 am. After arriving at the gardens, the group will watch a brief movie before taking part in a private, guided tour of the gardens. Afterwards, you’re on your own to get lunch at one of the restaurants on the premises and explore other parts of this massive historic landmark which includes walking trails, a zoo, an arboretum, a museum, a gift shop and more! The bus will return to Kure Beach, leaving Brookgreen Gardens at 4:30 pm. The cost of the trip is $41 per person which includes admission to the gardens, the private tour, the bus trip and driver tip. At the time you book your trip, you can also opt to pay an extra $8 to be booked on a 45-minute Creek Cruise that takes participants along abandoned rice fields to view the beautiful scenery and wildlife along a tributary of the Waccamaw River. The gardens should be beautiful in April, so book your trip today!
Tickets are on sale until Friday, March 6th or until the trip is sold out. Payment in the form of cash or check is required at the time of booking. You do not have to be a Kure Beach resident to participate.

New Art Classes Coming to Kure Beach March 9th

Lois DeWitt, of Sunroom Studio, will be teaching a Basic Drawing and an Acrylic Painting class at the Kure Beach Community Center. Basic Drawing will be Mondays, starting March 9th, from 10 am until 12 pm, and Acrylic Painting will be Fridays, starting March 13th, from 10 am until 12 pm. The cost is $80 for a 4-week session. Both classes are open to beginner or experienced students and each student will receive individual guidance. There is a minimum of four students for the classes to run. Catch your Kure Beach Bluefish

Kure Beach has commemorative opportunities on the boardwalk in the shape of a Bluefish. Each fish allows up to three lines of print.

Kure Beach Street Festival returns on Saturday, April 25th

Mark your calendars - the Kure Beach Street Festival is set to return this spring! This year’s festival will be held Saturday, April 25th from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. along Atlantic Avenue and the Ocean Front Park. We’ve put together a spectacular stage schedule of children’s entertainment, live music, dancing and more. Relax in the lawn and enjoy the entertainment, grab a snack from the delicious food vendors, browse the arts and craft booths for that must-have item, and enjoy a day with friends, new and old – all within sight of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. We hope to see you there! Interested art and craft vendors have until Friday, February 27th to submit an application. Vendor space is very limited. To ensure variety and a high level of involvement in the creation of items represented, this will be a juried event. Applications will be reviewed in early March and vendors will be notified by Friday, March 13th on the status of their application.

• Tuesday/Thursday – Kure Beach Aikido: Children’s class is 6-7 pm; Adult’s class is 7-9 pm. To register call (919) 818-3046
• Wednesday – Watercolor Painting: Beginner class is 9:30-11:30 am; Intermediate class is 12:30-2:30 pm (Begins 2/11). $30 per person per 4-week session, register and pay at first class. Contact Town Hall for list of supplies needed and registration form.
• Wednesday – Hoop Dance: 6:30-7:30 pm. Cost is $5 per class, pay at class. Hoop is provided.
• Thursday – Line Dancing with Ron Griffin: 10-11 am. Cost is $1, no preregistration required.
