Ashley Sports NEWS: Varsity Football Win on Homecoming Defeat Topsail Pirates 21-7

The Screaming Eagles walked away Monday Night with a Conference win against Topsail High School at home on Homecoming Night.
The Eagles 1st were able to get on the board thanks to a fumble recovery by the defense followed by a huge run by running back Bradley Plyler who broke out to a 36-yard touchdown with about 1:30 left in the 1st quarter.
The Eagles followed that score up with another fumble recovery gave good field position. This resulted in setting up Eagles sophomore Freddie Thames to run it in from 1-yard out giving them a 14-0 lead with 11:30 left in the half.
The Eagles were not done yet in the half as once again good field position helped set up another score from 1-yard out. This time it was Bradley getting his 2nd touchdown of the game and a 21-0 lead for the Eagles. The half would end with the score the same and the Eagles up in yardage 130 to 50.
After a scoreless 3rd quarter the Eagles had there 1st big mistake of the night after a fumble resulted in 7-points for Topsail after returning it 50 yards. However that would be the only way Topsail would score as the Eagles went on to win 21-7 over Topsail. The Eagles allowed under 90 Yards of offense by the Topsail Pirates, while picking up
The Eagles are now 2-5 Overall and 1-1 in Conference Play. The Eagles will at South Brunswick (2-5 & 0-2) this Friday Night.
