JV Team also wins 2-1 moving to 4-1 on the Season

It was just a short trip up College Road to Hoggard High for The Eagles to make but the stakes where huge in the start of conference play. The announcer for Hoggard made a mistake by introducing us as the Lovebirds of Ashley - no need for a pregame pep talk: it was done for the coaching staff. It was an exciting first half of play with The Eagles knocking on the Vikings door five times with no luck in putting the ball in the net. Hoggard had only a couple of looks with no results as well. After halftime break The Eagles decided to rectify the goal-less situation and just 20 seconds into the half Juan Bernardez found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1 to 0 lead. Eighteen seconds later Durwin Hamilton was fouled in the box to draw a penalty kick which he finished to put us up 2 goals. A little over eleven minutes later Espin Gilbert sent a perfectly place corner kick to the head of Diego Abraham to put the Eagles up by three. We relaxed a little towards the closing minutes of the match and allowed the Vikings to score two quick goals to pull within one. The Eagles tighten the screws for the last twelve minutes of the match to see the game through. Final score Ashley 3 Hoggard 2. Ashley record is now 2-3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference. The JV team regained their winning ways by a score of 2-1 over Hoggard. The JV team is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference. Both teams travel to Jacksonville on Friday.
