• Girls Soccer - THe Screaming Eagles Girls Soccer team was able to move into the top 50 in the State this past Week and are currently in 3rd Place in the Mideastern Conference with a chance to move into 2nd Place if they can knock off Hoggard High School who is ranked in the 5th in the State and 16th in the Nation. This past week the ladies had back to back 3-0 losses to Hoggard and Laney who is ranked 4th in the State and 15th in the Nation. THe Eagles will have games with New Hanover April 26th (After Press Deadline), at West Brunswick April 28th and at South Brunswick May 3rd. There final game of the Regular Season is a match up with Hoggard at home on Senior Night.
• TRACK & FIELD - The Screaming Eagles Boys and Girls Track & Field Teams are rolling into the County & Conference Championships with a head full of steam. The Boys just improved their record to 24-1 on the season with the win over: New Hanover, South Brunswick, Topsail and Cape Fear Academy. The Boys had 134 points, New Hanover 102, Topsail 95, South Brunswick 25 and Cape Fear Academy 0. On the Girls side the ladies ended up in 3rd Place, with New Hanover  winning with 132, Topsail 95, South Brunswick 24 and Cape Fear Academy 6.
Eagles that finished in the top 6 were: Boy: Russell Corbett was 1st in the discuss at 138’10” and 2nd in Shot Put 45’7”. Marsu Kennedy was 4th in Shot Put at 40ft and Jacob Reeds 4th in Discus 109’10”. In Pole Vault Daniel Suggs was 1st at 11’6”, Luka Abraham 2nd at 11’6”, 4th Alex Boring 9’, 5th Thomas Condon 8’6”, and 6th Thomas Condon 8’. The Jumpers also had a good day with Marshall  Croom was 1st in triple jump at 41’9” and 2nd in High Jump 6’. Corey Whaley was also 2nd in Triple Jump at 41’2”, 2nd in the Long Jump19’8.5”, 2nd in the 110 Hurdles 17.44 and 1st in the 300 Hurdles 42.34. Also in top 6 in triple jump was Omar Shareef 39’2” and Montique Mockoy 39’1”, McKoy was also 3rd in Long Jump at 19’7” and 6th in High Jump at 5’8”. In High Jump Freddie Thames was 3rd at 5’10”, Daniel Perry 4th at 5’8”. Freddie also placed 3rd in the 100 at 11.64. Daniel Perry also placed 4th in the 110 Hurdles 17.84 and 2nd in the 300 Hurdles 44.34. Nathan Kinsey placed 3rd in the 300 Hurdles at 44.94 and 3rd in the 110 Hurdles at 17.54. Dakota Spruley was 1st in the 3200 Meter Run with a 10:37. In the Mile Thoams Avery was 5th at 4:59 and Cody Benton 6th at 5:00. In the 800 Hunter Browe was 3rd at 2:12 and Avery 6th 2:16. Marvin Freeman placed 5th in the 100 12.04 and 6th in the 200 at 25.15. The Relay Teams finished: 2nd for the 4x200 1:36.7, 3rd for the 4x400 3:41, and 3rd for the 4x8 at 9:06.
Girls: Chantel Wright was 1st in the Shot Put 31’11” and 1st in the Discus 86’8”. Quiera Smith was 2nd in the Shot Put 30’4” and 5th in Discus 72’6”. I Pole Vault Hannah Bussard was 1st at 6’6” and Raven Dolfax was 3rd at 4’6”. In triple Jump Kennedy Haney took 1st with a 31’8” jump and Zoe Bryant was 5th at 26’10”. Haney was also 5th in Long Jump at 13’10” and Bryant 5th in High Jump at 4’2”. Viril Lloyd finished in 2nd Place in the 110 Hurdles at 17.74, 3rd in the 300 Hurdles at 52.94 and 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash 30.14. Ryleigh McIntyre finished in 2nd Place in the Mile at 5:44 and 3rd in the 800 at 2:37. Julia Boudreau won the mile with a 5:43 and took 2nd in the 800 with a 2:36. In the 400 Alyssa Yaw was 2nd at 1:04 and Erin Hager 6th at 1:11. Caitlin Donovan was 6th in the 200 with a 31.64. In the 100 Julie Webb finished in 5th Place at 14.64. The Relay Teams finished: 2nd for the 4x200 1:55.48, 1st for the 4x400 4:37, and 3rd for the 4x8 at 12:42.
The Eagles will be at Laney Thursday competing in the New Hanover County Track & Field Championships and the following Thursday they will be at Hoggard for the Mid-Eastern Conference Championships. The Wednesday before both Meets the Pole Vault Competition for both meets will be held at Ashley High School starting around 4PM.
